We’re currently enjoying a period of grace amid medical advancements against contagious diseases like influenza, whooping cough, and pneumonia. Thanks to 19th and 20th Century discoveries such as the ability to create antibiotics from common bacteria, people in our age take for granted their protection from the most horrific and deadly diseases of one or two centuries ago. One example of this that comes instantly to mind is the development of annual vaccines against certain strains of the flu; however, many people do not take advantage of the protection offered and neglect to receive the vaccine. The flu is still one of the most painful and frightening viral infections in the world, particularly the strains associated with birds.

Since it is easy for us to overlook the dangers of diseases that could be prevented with vaccinations. While no flu vaccine can protect against all possible strains that might circulate in a given year, even getting some protection against a particular strain can sometimes help protect you against the others as well. Here is some information on the flu and its statistics that I hope will help you make the best decision regarding you vaccinations for any children in your care.

Think about that title for a second…Done?

Okay, so when have you ever heard someone seriously say that they wanted to get fatter? You probably have never heard those words mentioned from anyone ever. In fact it is typically the very opposite that you hear people talking about all the time. Commonly people mention wanting to be healthier which means they will look and feel better. Now, that’s something that sounds appealing, right?

The idea of getting into shape and feeling great overall in your health is a goal that is not unknown to most of us. But the fact of the matter is, no one seems to be hopping on board with the idea. It’s almost like people really are saying, “Let’s get fatter!” If you do not take the time and make the effort to get the job done and become healthier, then you are not ready to be healthy, you want to get fat.

It really is the time to start saying and doing the opposite. People need to stand up for their health and for their bodies so that we can get off of the path to obesity and death.

The infographic below shows that we are on the track to being fat, find out how much fatter we are getting.

Who likes to go to the gym? You can say that you do, but who are you kidding. You may like the results from the gym or the way you feel after a good, long workout. But the fact of the matter is no one enjoys putting hours into lifting weights, running on a treadmill or any other equipment exercise. If you are looking for an amazing workout that will get you in shape quickly without the hassle and bore of the everyday routine, try a kickboxing workout.

Kickboxing provides you with a full body workout in a way that makes you feel like you aren’t even working out. Kickboxing works your legs, abs, and arms. I don’t like to go to the gym and work out for hours, but I like the results, so I started looking for an alternate solution. I was looking through all different methods for working out and nothing stood out at me until I saw this video for kickboxing.

I had always heard that kickboxing was a great workout and I wanted to give it a try. This video is a great sneak peak to the world of kickboxing exercise. Once you know what you are doing you might want to get involved in grabbing a partner and giving your skills a try.

I remember when I sent my first text message. I was not sold on it, and honestly I thought it would just be a passing fad. Now, texting is my main form of communication with my husband, friends, and family. I would much rather type out a simple message instead of have to make a phone call and be stuck on the phone. I do believe that being able to text can make life much easier, and I do text my fifteen year old sister quite a bit. Even my seven year old brother can use my dad’s phone to text me. I do have one problem with texting though, and that is that children might be texting more than they should.

You will notice in the infographic that I posted that texting among children and teens is more than pretty common, it’s a daily thing. It is something that is causing concern among parents everywhere. There have been many things that cause concern in parents like herbal incense bulk, bullying, and eating disorders. You need to be aware of your child’s texting habits. To make sure that your children and teens are not receiving inappropriate texts or missing out on sleep at night because they are constantly texting and things like that, here are some tips for you to follow:

Set a cell phone curfew. I love this rule because it is also wonderful for parents too. Choose a time for the whole family to put the phones on their chargers in one spot–with the sound off–and you can have family time and ensure your children are not texting in their rooms alone.

Turn off texting in the car. There are tools that you can buy that will make sure texting is turned off of a phone when going more than 10 miles per hour. Or just instill in your children the importance of turning off phones while driving.

Make sure your child has a clock in their room. So many teens use their phones as an alarm, which means their phone is by their bed. If the phone rings or a text comes in while they are sleeping they just might answer it and lose out on sleep. Get an alarm clock for your child’s room and make certain the cell phone stays out of the bedrooms.

Safety is a big part of staying healthy. If you are not being safe then you are likely to not be as healthy overall. On a daily basis you do many things to make sure that you and your children are safe. You buckle seat belts in the car, you wear helmets on bicycles, and you stay safe from germs by washing your hands regularly. Surely there are many other things that you do each day to make certain that the family is safe. What about your kids and their online habits? Are you sure if your little ones are being safe when they are online, especially on social media sites like Facebook?

It is so important that you are clearly aware of what your children are doing when they are using the internet. You also should be able to know what the outside world sees when looking at things like your child’s profile. Make sure that you are doing everything necessary to keep your kids safe when they are online. Talk with them constantly about it and monitor them as well. If your child will not talk with you, then maybe it is time for them to see a counselor with a human services degree to help them. There are even tools that you can use as a parent to control certain things that they do or see on the internet. The infographic below has more tips on how to make safety a priority when it comes to using the internet.

Obesity is a growing problem in the United States. Obesity is a serious problem that can easily be avoided. I believe that no one should be obese, I have some understanding for people that are overweight but there is no reason for a person to be considered obese.

Obesity is a huge problem for the United States, it’s making medical costs go up because more people are having health issues when they are so far overweight. For some people they naturally carry more weight than others which is perfectly natural but there is a huge difference in carrying more weight and being obese. Obesity is a 100% self preventable problem. All you have to do is watch what you eat and exercise a little bit.

I have always been drawn to all of the things that I’m not supposed to eat; sugar, candy, and fried foods have always been some of my favorite things to eat. That doesn’t mean that I eat whatever I want whenever I want. I eat proportion conservative healthy frozen meals or cook low calorie meals to as well as hit the gym several times a week. I would much rather have an ice cream sundae on the couch for dinner but that’s not an option if you want to stay fit and healthy.

Looking at the chart of what percentage of people in each state are obese was quite disturbing. The problem is only going to increase through time. Maybe seeing these numbers will motivate people to put down the burger and grab a salad instead.

Who is the one that is responsible for making sure they are awake and getting ready for school? Who cooks their breakfast? Who gets them off to school? Who helps with homework and fixes them soup when they are sick? We, the parents do.

A child’s health isn’t limited to doctors visits when they have a cold and taking them to the hospital when they fall out of the tree that you told them not to climb about a million times. Taking care of your child’s health includes doing all of the little things that go unnoticed so often. The things that looking back on your kids will know that you really did care, and knew what was best even when they refused to believe it.

Taking care of your child’s physical health is a very important part of being a parent. Although they are going to get hurt and things will happen at some point. It’s your job to keep a level head even when you are flipping out inside. Keeping your child calm when something bad happens is one of the best ways you can help them. If they get in an accident and have to be taken to the hospital or doctor it is always best to be safe that sorry. Many children are frightened by doctors especially if they are hurt. The best thing that you can do for them is to be their stable support and tell them it will be okay. Being the parent you are most likely more fearful that even your child in times of crisis, but you have to keep them at ease.

In addition to taking care of serious injuries or kissing a skint knee, you have the responsibility of making sure that they have plenty of food, water, are safe, have a comfortable home, and appropriate clothes for what they need them for. Taking care of a child isn’t as easy as you might think. Some children have health problems like diabetes, anemia, low or high blood pressure, cholesterol, or a number of other health problems.

Maintaining your child’s health can be easy and it can be difficult. Some children are more susceptible to being sick or getting hurt just because that’s the way that they are. As the parent you always have to put your children first. If they have medical issues it’s important to make sure that they can and are receiving proper medical attention.

Taking care of your children’s health should be your main priority. You also need to keep them healthy by showing them love, compassion, and sympathy. You also should have a light relationship with your children and be able to joke, laugh, and play together. If you have this kind of a relationship when you are serious and mean business it will have a greater effect than if you were like that all the time.

Remember these things to make sure that you are taking care of your children’s health. Being a parent is hard, but it is well worth it when you hear their sweet and innocent voices telling you “i love you” when you tuck them in bed at night.

No one wants to take off work and go to the doctor with their sick child, and no child wants to have to stop running around the house long enough to re-cooperate. The best way to prevent this is by boosting your child’s immune system.

Children’s immune systems are much weaker than an adults because they haven’t been exposed to and build up an immunity to things yet. To help prevent them from getting sick there are a few things that can heighten their young immune systems. Keep in mind that these foods are also helpful in keeping you healthy.

Vitamin C is one of the most important things to keeping an immune system in pristine fighting condition. Vitamin C is found in many fruits, vegetables, and is fortified in many products. Vitamin C helps the body by increasing the production of white blood cells which are the cells that fight infections. They also increase interferon which is the antibody that cotes the cells and prevents harmful bacteria to enter the body. The best way for the body to get vitamin C is through eating a combined 6 servings of fruit and vegetables everyday.

Vitamin E is an important antioxidant. Vitamin E fights off harmful bacteria and cancer cells by helping produce B-cells. Vitamin E is also important to maintaining a healthy heart. It has been proven to reduce the risk of a heart attack by 50%. Vitamin E can also help reduce immune system weakening as people age. You should consume 30 to 60 mg of vitamin E a day, this can be achieved through grains, oils, and seeds.

Carotenoids play an important role in maintaining a healthy immune system. They stimulate the production of infection fighting cells, T cells, and natural killer cells. They also work to clean up free radicals that cause fast aging. Carotenoids can help reduce the risk for heart attack, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. The saying “a carrot a day will keep the heart surgeon away” has been established because of the benefits of Carotenoids. The bests known Cartenoid is Beta Caroten, although scientists believe that there are others that have good effects. Beta Caroten is converted into vitamin A which acts as a cancer fighter and immune system boost.

These 3 things are the most common immune system boosters. They are easily found in a number of foods as well as supplements. To keep everyone in your family happy and healthy try to incorporate these into your daily diet.

Keeping your children at the peak of their fitness can be a little bit of a hassle with all the junk food and sugar rich drinks these days. Not many people have the type of dedication needed to stay fit and healthy in this day and age–much less a kid that isn’t familiar with Direct SAT. Without a proper diets and plenty of exercise your kids will become a statistic of the world’s obese population. Nothing can hurt them more developmentally. Think of how many times you were picked on as a kid and then times that by three. That is how many times an obese child is picked on during a good day. They only escape is to let it out in one way or another; usually that way is aggression and violence becoming a bully to keep other from making fun or to become depressed and withdrawn. It can be prevented easily, however, so why deal with it.

A healthy life starts with a healthy body and mind. This is true for kids as well. If you want to make a great impact on the child then the best is to never let them start in the first place. Ingrain in them at an early age that sodas and other sugar rich drinks should only be had once a day or less. Do this by denying the drinks except once a day and offering flavorful alternatives. Fruit juices are a good alternative as long as they are natural. Lemonade made with a low calorie mix is another method and is hard to tell the difference due to the acidity. If you mix in fruits and vegetables into their diets as well and cut back on the amount of processed breads, cheeses, and other foods then you will make a large dent as well.

If you followed the diet portion then the exercise portion should be a breeze. With all the fruits and good sugars and proteins they’ll be getting the energy they’ll have will be overflowing. They’ll be playing outside more than inside to get rid of it. All you have to do is channel the energy they have into lots of cardio to keep the weight down. Regular playing won’t really affect their weight. Simply suggesting going to the park or playing a sport will greatly increase where the energy will be released.

The helpful programs that can change your childs health outlook. Having them cooped up in school all day now that PE isn’t what it used to be and recess is being cut too there can be a big issue with your child’s health. These are some programs that can help with that. We collected this information from cableinternetbundles.com, not only experts in home entertainment, but committed to families.

YMCA

The YMCA is a great way for kids to get the exercise they need and have fun while doing it. There are several different programs at the YMCA that have a summer program and a weekend programs so that the kids can play all sorts of sports, swim, and there are some that have lock-ins. Those get really popular in the summer and not only does it keep the kids active but also keeps them off the street in bad neighborhoods.

4H

4H is the outdoor equivilent of the YMCA. Where they mostly do indoor sports, 4H does all the outdoor sports. Horse back riding and Archery were some of my favorites as a kid. They are mostly during the summer however due to the outdoor nature. Not many 4H programs stretch into the winter other than visiting schools and letting them know about the programs. They are also more of a summer camp so it still get kids into an experience they wouldn’t normally get in the city.

Cub scouts

Cub scouts/Boy scouts/Girl scouts/Eagle scouts: These are all pretty much the same program and based on the same premise. Teach kids to depend on themselves and colleagues to accomplish set tasks and get things done. They do more than just selling cookies. Every weekend and the summers are covered and the kids will experience everything from camping to sports to business and human relations learning.

Young Marines

A little rougher than the cub scouts is the Young Marines. They are regularly featured on the news through Direct TV and other providers. These young men and women range from age 8-18 and the program qualifies any young marine to go into an officer training program in the Marines as a second year with all rights and privileges. They are groomed into young marines over every weekend and the summer. They get to experience everything the Marines do but scaled down for the younger ages. Young Marines do the survival test, obstacle courses, rock climbing and repelling, minor weapons training, and most important of all they are given the discipline and knowledge to better them in any social and professional situation.

JROTC

JROTC is the School version of the Young Marines. While they are privatized and only for the Marines; JROTC is for all branches of the military although it usually is one or another major branch per school. Not many schools branch off the practices and classes of the military they choose as the instructors are retired from that particular branch. Because the program is out of a school they don’t usually have a weekends or extended summer program but the programs they have are intertwined into the daily school life. They usually offer training in drill, lessons on tactics and military history, obstacle courses, marching, and camping. Depending on the rank gained from the program the now young men and women can go into either the ROTC programs or into service as an increased ranked soldier/officer candidate.
